Bookish people are the easiest to buy gifts for. Books, book-ish finds, fandoms, more books…the list is never ending, so it’s no surprise that there are so many bookish subscription boxes and that they are so popular. Many are dedicated to fantasy, but even if you don’t read fantasy, there are plenty of options and I took it upon myself to do some research, so today I’m sharing what I learned. Some I’ve checked out and others I haven’t, but let me know what you think of them and if someone in your life needs gift ideas, send this list their way!
Calling all my classics lovers. This subscription service is quarterly and what makes it fun are that there are beautiful editions and each of the gifts are related to what you are reading and to be opened on certain pages. It gives you that motivation to actual read the book you bought! My second box was Blue Castle, the best surprise and treat. I need more beautiful editions of this all time favorite.
I love a special edition. If you’ve been around for a minute, you know I collect editions of my favorite books (my LOTR and Narnia collection are getting out of hand, but I won’t stop and I’ve expanded to other languages). This is perfect for readers who love a beautiful physical copy. I like that there are two options to choose from each month, in case you’re not feeling the fantasy. Plus you have the option to skip if neither grab your attention, and you get fun bookish gifts. There are different levels of the quarterly box, so options! This is for those who love options and what’s hot. There are a variety of books and if you don’t like the next month’s book, you can skip it. What’s fun about this one is that like The Literary Book Club, the gifts are related to what you are reading and for specific pages. Of course you can cheat and open them all at once, but if you know you’re going to read it, then it adds to the reading experience.
This one is focused on bookish gifts as opposed to books and is full of creative gifts. They have gifts they sell all the time, but also a subscription for exclusive book goodies. Their tag line is “minimal bookish essentials for every day,” which describes them perfectly.
Others I haven’t tried, but have heard great things about include:
This one pops up on my socials all the time, but if you enjoy YA or Adult fantasy and romance, this one might be for you. It looks like they have a lot of exclusives as well - which I know fandoms love.
Much like Book of the Month its straight to the point with books. What I like about this one is that there are several categories to choose from (large print and all ages from babies to adults) and you support the indie book store, Bethany Beach Books in Deleware.
So what are your thoughts on book boxes? Have you been gifted any? Or what others should people check out? And if you find a LOTR or Lewis one, please let me know. For research purposes.
